The year is 1892 and a killer has been let loose in the heart of England.  It moves silently from house to house.  It corrupts, it contaminates; it murders arbitrarily.  It hasn’t been seen in almost three hundred years, yet it has now returned to the largest city in the world.  A city of three million people.

Silas Eldritch, disgraced secret agent and last chance for London’s deliverance, must find out why the Black Death has reappeared, and why an eminent doctor of diseases has suddenly gone missing in a city that has fallen into chaos.
His one clue is the doctor’s unconventional daughter, Emily Grange: a woman out of her time but with more than enough courage to follow Silas through a growing nightmare of riots, massacres and an inferno that could start the greatest war this world has ever known.  They have but ten days to find out who is responsible. Ten days to find a cure, before the fear and wrath of Europe rains fire down upon the city.

And time is fast running out. 

For Silas Eldritch this will be the worst mission he has ever taken.
